World War 1 : How did WW1 affect the United States?

The United States was affected by World War 1. The U.S was effected by political/social problems, racial conflicts and foreign policy issues. For example, the United States was effected by Isolationism, the Red Scare, and the Red Summer.

The United States was affected by foreign policy issues with Isolationism. An example of Isolationism is the Treay of Versailles. This is an example becuase the Senator denied the approval of this foreign policy. The U.S wants nothing to do with foreign affairs anymore after World War 1. Also President Wilson Fourteen Points document was an example od Isolationism. Senator Henry Cabot Lodge speech discussed his preference for Isolationism in order to keep the U.S in ordered liberty/peace. and the largest freedom country in the world. This speech essentially caused the rejection of the Treaty of Versailles.

The United States was also affected by social/politcal problems with the Red Scare. The Red Scare was mainly about the (fear) rise of communism in the U.S and Worldwide. The Red Bolsheviks in Russia won the civil war and adapted a communist government in the Soviet Union in 1917. Commuism then expanded in russia following with violent strikes in 1919 ,which lead to the Palmer Raids. As communism spread across the board and expanded in the United States, Attorney General A Mitchell Palmer lead unauthorized raids on businesses and homes that were suspected of communism. The search results in finding no eveidence of communism but instead resulted in getting over 6,000 immigrants arrested and deported. The effect of immigrants being taken away was that the U.S loses several workers, which mean the United didn't have anyone to work in factory to make and do the job that were neccesities to Americans. This was not how attorney general went about thinking. A. Mitchell Palmer felt that immigrants were as aliens and were not worthy to be inhabitants on the U.S. Palmer believed in Nativism. " The Case Aganist the Reds" explained why he felt communism was a threat to the United States and why foreign born immigrants were deported.

Lastly, the U.S was affected by racial conflict during the Red Summer. Now this time "red" did not symbolize communism but infact symbolized killing and blood. This was the time of the Great Migration at which thousands of  African Americans migrated from the south to the north. Also this was a time of economic struggles related to high unemployment which was a result of great migration. Although this may not some like such a racial problem but it actially created alot of racial tension across the north. Several groups of whites would attack blacks in several cities at a time. In Chicago, 38 were killed and 1,000 were wounded, in Washington D.C 15 were killed and 100 were wounded, and In Nebraska the lynching on Will Brown took place. Innocent negros were being randomly beat by soldiers, sailors and even marines. The bad thing about this all is the The President knew about this racial problem and had the authority to stop it and didn't
The U.S went through all during World War 1 but the problems didn't stop there. The United States was affected  by foreign policy issues, socially/politcally, and racial conflicts after World War 1. Isolationism, the Red Scare and the Red Summer were all some affects of World War 1.

World War 1: Did the United States uphold it's ideals at home during WW1?

The Unties States did not iphold to its ideals during the World War 1. The Conscription Proclamation, the  Espionage/Sedition Act , and the French Directive, all, don't uphold to the American ideal liberty, equality, and democracy.

The United States doesnt follow through with the ideal liberty. The Conscription Procalmation was one event that caused the United States to not uphild to this ideal. The Conscription forced men 21-30 to register for miltary (war). IT was mandatory for them to registerand if they didn't they were punished ( sent to jail), then were registered by the governmant anyway. This was basically like enforcing work/labor as done in slavery but these actions were abolished by the 13th amendment which therefore would make this law unconstitutional.

The U.S doesn't follow through witt the ideal democracy. The Espionage Act and Sedition Act was another cause for why the U.S did not uphold to this ideal. These Acts forbitted people from saying or doing/taking action with any negative intentions towards government. The first amendment in the constitution states that Americans are given the right to freedom of speech and freedom of the press. The Espionage Act and Sedition Act took away theseconstitutional right from americans.

During World War 1 the U.S did not uphold to the ideal equality. "The French Directive" was also the cause for the U.S not upholding its ideals. The American American military leaders were treated inferior to other military leaders. The French military leaders felt as if the more negros that came to the military, the black aspirations which to them ( whites) appear intolerable.Others weren't allowed to eat, talk, meet, shake hands, etc with the black leaders.

The United States didn't uphold to the ideals liberty, democracy and equality. For example the Conscription Proclamation denied America from liberty, The Espionage /Sedition Act denied the U.S from democracy. and the French Directive denied the United States from equality.

World War 1: Why did the Untied States enter WW1?

The U.S entered World War 1 because they were mad, mad i tell you, mad! Its all because of German agression towards America. Germans were killing innocent Americans, the Zimmermann Note, and unrestricted warfare were all signs of agression from Germany which caused U.S to finally retalliate.

Germany killed several Americans. The sinking of the Sussex killed/harmed 325 Americans in 1916. The torpedoing of the Lusitania killed/ harmes 128 passengers.. The thing about these attacks were that the German torpedoed ships without warning. Americans were angry that they had their peeople dying in ship recks that were not even caused by their own country.

The Zimmermann Note was another example of German agression. Within this document it sugesst that Germany becomes allies with Mexico which as we know is close to the Untied States. This was Germany's way to gain control/ more power over the U.S ( neutral powered). Germany would soon need this power (ally) because they were planning to begin unrestricted warfare on the 1st of February.

Restarting unrestristed warfare was another sign of aggression towards America. In 1916 after the sinking of the Sussex. Germany had cancelled submarine warfare because of protest made by the Untied States. In January of 1917 the German government restarted unrestricted submarine warfare in a plan to keep the U.S neutral. From Germany restarting this more Americans would get killed. This evetually convinced America it was time to prtect their country.

The U.S was provoked to enter teh war by German aggression. For example the unrestricted warfare, Zimmermann Note, and the sinking of ships influenced America to become a part of World War 1.
